Our History

1975

JBCP Founded

Community members come together to establish James Bay Community Project as a neighbourhood house, responding to local needs for connection and support.

1980s

Programs Expand

Family programs, seniors services, and community events become core offerings, establishing JBCP as a vital community hub.

1990s

Youth & Outreach Services

Youth outreach programs and expanded family support services address growing community needs.

2000s

Community Closet Opens

Our social enterprise thrift store opens, providing affordable clothing while funding programs.

2010s

Partnership Growth

Better at Home and other partnership programs expand our capacity to serve seniors and families.

2020-Present

Adapting & Thriving

JBCP continues to evolve, meeting new challenges with innovation while staying true to our community-focused mission.

What is a Neighbourhood House?

JBCP is a neighbourhood house – a community-based, non-profit organization that brings people together, strengthens communities, and responds to local needs.
